Our Story
Professional Extension Gear (or PEG) was established in 2019 on one goal in mind; serve action-based content creators with a tool to capture in new ways.
Current tools on the market didn’t allow innovative angles. Most if not all mounts and tools were fixed products that did not offer modularity or even the ability to customize form factor to fit a certain activity. As mentioned by GoPro in their publication, Professional Filmmakers Guide, they’ve used short extension sticks that allow them to gather footage from a different perspective.
GoPro has proven their brand through these unique angles and that’s something we wanted to share with others. Now there is a product on the market that can cater to any activity, sport, lifestyle.
It started out with the ol’ drawing board. Our idea was basically a selfie stick for mounted shots. Then it evolved into something that could be daisy-chained and triangulated between mounts. The only way that could be done is with segmented holes that serve as check points.
Since the concept was baked, we tested out what lengths work best and found that an 11″ was the best for spherical cameras. That specific length gives enough space from the mounting point in order to deliver a clean stitch line.
The 7″ and 5″ sticks are the building blocks. Whether mounting to a surfboard, skateboard, or even a boat, the shorter lengths are great for triangulating the 11″ for a better angle. At the same time, the rig becomes more sturdy and reduces movement in the recorded shot.
